When does registration open?
Registration will open for the Vernal Rock Rally at midnight on February 1, 2023.
What is included with registration?
Registration includes: event t-shirt, entry into daily prize drawings, 3 days of guided trails, Thursday dinner, Friday's Show n Shine event.
Do I need to register by passenger(s) to be able to participate in the Vernal Rock Rally?
Passenger do not need to register to participate in the Vernal Rock Rally. Event t-shirts and Thursday dinner ticket can be purchased at the same time that the Driver registers for the event. Passengers will not be entered into the daily prize drawings. If they desire they can purchase raffle tickets throughout the event.
Where do I get my credentials at the opening of the Vernal Rock Rally?
Vernal Rod & Gun Club (3495 N 2500 W, Vernal, UT) each morning from 7am - 8:30am
What is the weather like during the Vernal Rock Rally?
It is important to be prepared for any and all weather types. In most years, drivers experiences some rain on the trail. Regardless of precipitation, the elevation changes over most of the rides will result in dramatic changes in temperature during each ride. Please drive prepared!
Can I switch rides after registration?

What do I do if one of my rides is canceled prior to or during the Vernal Rock Rally?
On occasion, because of either a low number of riders or trail conditions a ride will be canceled or combined with another ride. The VRR will make efforts to notify those drivers whos rides have been canceled or combined with another ride prior to the VRR so as to allow the driver to make necessary adjustments.
Are the Vernal Rock Rally shirts included for late registrations?
Registered drivers of the VRR will have a t-shirt included with their registrations if they register before May 1st. Shirt sizes will not be guaranteed after May 1st.
Can I bring my UTV to the Vernal Rock Rally?
This is a jeeping and 4WD rally. Please refer to the Outlaw ATV Jamboree if riding your UTV or ATV interests you at www.outlawatvjamboree.com
Is there any width restrictions for the Vernal Rock Rally?
There are no width restrictions for the Vernal Rock Rally.
Can I bring my dog to the Vernal Rock Rally?
There are no state laws that prohibit taking your dog along with you on your rides. Please be courteous by picking up affter your animal and keeping it on a leash where appropriate and/or required.
Can I drive around town during the Vernal Rock Rally?
There are a number of streets in Uintah County that are considered "OHV Friendly." Because of the number of drivers in Vernal during the Vernal Rock Rally local law enforcement is somewhat more lenient as to riding in town. It is our recommendations, however, that riders do their best to stay on the generally approved routes as much as possible. And to avoid major roads and highways in non-street legal vehicles.
What is the difference between difficulty levels?
Difficulty Level 1 - County dirt road maintained for high clearance 2WD and 4WD use in adverse conditions.
Difficulty Level 2 - County dirt road with infrequent or light maintenance after rain or snow, high clearance light durty 4WD required.
Difficulty Level 3 - Trail consisting of loose rocks, dirt, and sand with some slickrock surfaces, mud holes possible, no steps higher than 12". 4WD is required, aggressive tires a plus.
Difficulty Level 4 - Trail consisting of loose rock, dirt, and sand with some slickrock surfaces. Some erosion; washes, gulches and rock steps no higher than 18". Tall tires (33" plus) and limited slip would be a plus. 4WD is required. Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance are helpful. Good driving skills a plus.
Difficulty Level 5 - Trail surfaces are rutted, rocky and sandy with steps not exceeding 24", with considerable slickrock surfaces. Water not exceeding 12" with some mud possible. Good ground clearance and driving skills are needed. 4WD, tall tires (33" plus) and traction adding devices (locker, limited slip) are required. Above average driving skills are desirable. A winch would be a plus. Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance are also required.
Difficulty Level 6 - Trails are difficult with considerable erosion damage, loose rocks, dirt, and slickrock. Water in excess of 12" is possible with ud conditions. Steps are not exceeding 36". 4WD, tall tires (33" plus) with two traction adding devices (lockers, limited slips) are required. A winch would be a plus. Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance are required. Excellent driving skills are recommended.
Difficulty Level 7 - Trails consists of rock, sand and considerable slickrock with many steps exceeding 48". Steep inclines and declines are prevalent. Enhanced off road equipment is required including locking devices (front & rear), 35" tires, maximum vehicle ground clearance, and tow hooks. A winch is desirable. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is possible. Roll over possibilities exist.
Difficulty Level 8 - extreme trails similar to #7 except a bit more extreme. Same equipment required as #7. A winch is desirable and likely to be used. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Roll over possibilities exist.
Difficulty Level 9 - Extreme and beyond. The average well-equipped trail rig may have great difficulty in completing this trail. Steps exceeding 60". Steep inclines and declines with off-camber sections are prevalent. Enhanced off road equipment is required including locking devisces (front & rear). tall tires (37" plus), maximum ground clearance, tow hooks, and a winch. Minimum wheelbasee 100". Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Roll over is very common. Spare parts and tools are recommended.
Difficulty Level 10 - Let the carnage begin! Buggy territory. Street driven 4x4s should not attempt this trail. Modified factory vehicles will not be able to complete this trail.
Where do the rides start from?
There will be a drivers meeting each morning at 8am at the Vernal Rod & Gun Club (3495 N 2500 W, Vernal, UT) then rides will depart from the VRGC at 8:30am and 10:30am
Can I get a refund on registration fees?
We understand that it may not always be possible to join us for the Vernal Rock Rally even after you have registered. Full refund will be given on or before May 1st minus any processing fees. After that time period registration will be non-refundable. The process fee is non-refundable regardless of the time period.

What else do I need to bring to the Vernal Rock Rally?
Please be prepared for your ride. Make sure you have a lunch, snacks, camera, jacket, and plenty of fuel for your jeep. You may also want to bring spare parts, winch, and a locking device depending on which trails you will being riding.
Are there any places to camp or dry camp?

How do I participate in the Show N Shine Event?
Participation in the Show N Shine event on Friday, June 7th is free and no pre-enrollment required. Participants can start setting up their vehicles at 5pm at the Downtown Auto Group (270 East Main Street, Vernal, UT) Once parked head to the VRR Tent and get your participation number and sign up for the RTI Ramp and Slow Crawl challenges if desired. 300 East will be closed for this event. Please use 100 South for entrance into the Show N Shine. Public event park will be at the Uintah Conference Center (313 E 200 S, Vernal, UT)
